What is Die Casting?

Die casting is a highly efficient process that can be used to manufacture precise and large quantities of metal parts. Die casting uses specialized molds, known as die-casting molds, which can produce multiple parts simultaneously, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
Die casting is commonly used for metals such as aluminum, zinc, and magnesium. It involves melting the metal and injecting it into the die-casting mold under high pressure. The subsequent rapid cooling and solidification can capture the complex designs and details of the parts, thus reducing the need for a large number of secondary operations.
If the product requires stricter tolerances, additional post-processing may be necessary.
At Easia, our team of experienced experts carefully reviews each die-casting project to ensure that our approach meets your specific requirements. We prioritize optimizing the production process and ensuring that each part meets high standards of durability and aesthetics.

Die Casting Types Available from Easia

Hot Chamber Die Casting

The hot chamber die casting process, also known as gooseneck casting, is the most widely favored die casting method. It is particularly suitable for processing alloys with relatively low melting points, such as zinc, magnesium, and lead.

Cold Chamber Die Casting

The cold chamber die casting process is characterized by a chamber that stays at room temperature. Unlike the hot chamber die casting process, it doesn’t have a holding pot containing molten metal.
In cold chamber die casting, metal is first melted in a separate furnace. Then, it is manually poured into the shot chamber through a pouring hole using a ladle.
This kind of die casting is well-suited for materials with relatively higher melting temperatures, for example, aluminum.

Popular Die Casting Materials

There are several different metal materials to choose from when manufacturing with die casting. The material you choose will depend on your intended use for your product.
You can learn more about the main types of die casting materials we offer in the section below. If you have a specific material requirement, let us know!

Aluminum Die Casting

aluminum die casting
Aluminum alloys are the most widely used materials for die-cast parts. Aluminum die-casting part suppliers benefit from the complete recyclability and ease of use of this material.
Engineers mainly use cast aluminum parts because of their high strength-to-weight ratio, dimensional stability, and a variety of finishing options.
Easia offers the most popular aluminum die casting alloys including:
  • Aluminum ADC12
  • Aluminum ADC6
  • Aluminum A360
  • Aluminum A380

Zinc Die Casting

zinc die casting
Zinc is the easiest material to cast among die-casting metals and is usually used in the hot chamber process.
Molten zinc has excellent casting fluidity and a relatively low melting point. Its strength and stiffness enable the production of components with thinner walls and richer details, while maintaining strict tolerances.
Easia offers the most popular zinc die casting alloys including:
  • Zinc Zamak 3
  • Zinc Zamak 5
  • Zinc Zamak 2
  • ZA8

Magnesium Die Casting

Magnesium Die Casting

Magnesium plays a crucial role in die-casting. It is quite amenable to casting and is commonly utilized in the hot chamber method. The molten magnesium boasts excellent casting fluidity and a relatively low melting point.
With its remarkable strength, it enables the production of parts with thin walls and elaborate details while maintaining strict dimensional tolerances, thus highly prized across various industries.
Easia offers the most popular magnesium die casting alloys including:

  • Magnesium AZ91D,
  • Magnesium AM60B

Copper Die Casting

Copper is also an important material in die-casting. It can be applied in certain die-casting processes. Molten copper has good fluidity during casting and a relatively high but manageable melting point.
Its high strength and conductivity allow for the production of components with fine details and precise dimensions. Copper die-cast parts are widely used in electrical and some high-end manufacturing industries.
Easia offers the most popular copper die casting alloys including:

  • Copper ZQA19-2
  • Copper ZQA19-4
  • Copper ZQA19-7
  • Copper ZQA19-10
